How to End Meralgia Pain and Recover Quickly

(Dozens of Remedies, Tips, and Tricks)

Aged 39, and for the last 7 years, I have been feeling Bernhardt’s sensory disturbance on the outer surface of my right thigh  – the anterior and lateral  from below the trochanter to the knee – a furry sensation, a feeling of “alien skin,” almost imperceptible at rest but exacerbated by walking, and frequently accompanied by painful short pricking at right angles to the skin, as well as a disagreeable sensitivity to the rubbing of underclothes...

What People Are Saying:

  • Ann, Chicago Post-Surgery Meralgia Sufferer

I am SO relieved to have found your book!!!  Thank you for writing this book!!!  I just ordered your book yesterday, and found it very informative and helpful.  I am hoping to ask you questions, if that's okay, since I have an unfortunate complication: entirely restricted movement on my non-MP leg due to a tibia plateau fracture. This is all so new to me, so I do not yet have an "official" diagnosis of MP; however, I believe my symptoms line up with the MP symptoms. I'm waiting to hear back from the orthopedic surgeon as I type this email to you. I thought it might be helpful if I shared some history.....

  • David, San Diego 2-months meralgia sufferer

Hi – about 2 months ago I suddenly got (what I now know is) Meralgia Paresthesia in my right thigh following a slight back issue. Was in excruciating pain in spite of a series of ever increasing strength painkillers prescribed by GP who was not a great deal of help. Passed out with pain twice and ended up in hospital for a day. Physio was ok but recovery progress was slow & improvement seemed to have stalled after 3 weeks – not good for the mind! So decided to trawl internet & eventually found this website that is so informative. The self help page with the 3 exercises was just what I was looking for. Have been doing the exercises for 2 weeks now & improvement has been amazing & I am almost back to normal. I can’t thank you enough as it felt pretty bleak until I found out what I should be doing via your website. Pity my GP hasn’t had a look !! – David

  • Mexn Zaus Six years with Meralgia pain

I have been suffering severe Meralgia Paresthetica for almost six years now, each year the pain has gotten progressively worse, therefore my quality of life has decreased as I try to get through the day… And the night. I was super fit, had my personal training business, ran and stretched every day, ate healthy and didn’t abuse my body. I began to suffer during my third pregnancy, my OB GYN did not diagnose, I made the self diagnose through many days at google sites.. Then someone did listen to me, got tested, I’ve tried Gabapentin in combination

About The Author

I'm Godfree Roberts. I received my doctorate in Education from UMass Amherst and subsequently suffered an agonizing 12-month bout of Meralgia Paresthetica.  I was forced to travel all over the world in mysearch of relief. I was shocked at how few physicians and healers could correctly diagnose a condition  that afflicts so many – 3 million people – every year.

And I was disappointed that not a single one of them could recommend anything more than 'bed rest' to help end my pain and get me walking normally again.

So I started keeping notes on everyone I talked to and everything that I did and learned from a wide variety of conventional and alternative healers. I tried stuff that sounded stupid – like sitting in a bath of Epsom salts – that were cheap (66¢) and that worked. And I tried stuff that was expensive and sensible – like and MRI – that told the doctor and me absolutely nothing. Then I began experimenting with pain management seriously.

This book is really just about pain management, and specifically about the pain of Meralgia Paresthetica, how I made a full recovery, and how you can, too.
